No drilling required but a rack of some type is necessary. You can mount the Add-Awn Sport Shade along side the vehicle or to the rear.

The Add-Awn Sport Shade for Sport Utilities and Vans with roof racks provides up to 100 square feet of coverage against the elements. The cover includes an apron that extends over the roof of the vehicle providing protection against sun, wind or rain coming in from the opposite side.
